I count none but sunny hours

Spent a peaceful hour walking around the New Palestine Cemetery this morning. I always find some interesting things there.

Gravestone sundial

Don’t do it.

Poorly planned.

I’ve started to get really annoyed with stones that identify a woman as “His Wife.” It’s bad enough that most stones do not give maiden names. Also interesting that Rebecca died very young – she was 21 – and Charles apparently was not buried here. I have found quite a few of these stones with a death date missing for a spouse who presumably remarried and was buried with a different spouse. It’s understandable, of course, but it always makes me sad.
